Today, four students had the honor of participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. They also witnessed the Changing of the Guard, visited the Kennedy gravesites and explored the Iwo Jima Memorial.
The day continued with visits to Ford's Theatre and the Smithsonian museums, including American History and Air & Space.
These experiences bring history beyond the classroom, giving students the opportunity to connect what they've learned with the people, places and events that have shaped our nation. In the coming weeks, students will build on what they saw and experienced in Washington, D.C., using the trip as a springboard for classroom projects that deepen their learning.🧡🖤

The Academy for the Performing Arts presents Come From Away, the Tony Award-winning musical based on the true story of a small Newfoundland town that welcomed nearly 7,000 stranded travelers in the days following September 11, 2001.

Please note, the Board of Education will have a work session in Sands from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. This meeting is open to the public.

Eighth graders put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test as they programmed Sphero robots to navigate a croquet-style course. Along the way, they learned that a little trial, error and adjustment can make all the difference.
And this is just the beginning. The skills they’re building now will help prepare them for an upcoming drone project! 🚁
