Jude Bidar

Chagrin Falls High School senior Jude Bidar has been named the Chagrin Valley Rotary Student of the Month for October 2026. Bidar was recognized for his academic achievements, leadership, community service and involvement in school activities.

Throughout high school, Bidar has challenged himself academically while pursuing a variety of interests. He has earned a place on the academic high honor roll and received the AP Scholar with Honor award. One of his proudest accomplishments was earning first place with his team in last spring's entrepreneurship challenge.

Bidar credits AP Physics 1 as one of his most challenging and rewarding courses, explaining that it pushed him to approach each question through critical thinking and problem-solving.

Spanish teacher Laurie Walsh, who taught Bidar in Honors Spanish Four and AP Spanish Language and Culture, praised his academic abilities and positive attitude. "Positive, intellectually curious, and genuinely kind, Jude possesses the rare combination of academic excellence and an infectious 'joie de vivre' that elevates every class and activity," said Walsh. "What truly sets Jude apart, however, is the joy and enthusiasm he brings to every class. His optimism is contagious."

Walsh also recalled Bidar's participation in a Spanish homestay immersion program in Seville, Spain, last spring through Centro Mundolengua. During the experience, Bidar lived with a host family, practiced his Spanish with native speakers and embraced opportunities to learn about the culture. "Rather than remaining a passive observer, Jude eagerly immersed himself in daily family life, sought opportunities to converse with native speakers, and demonstrated remarkable cultural sensitivity and appreciation," said Walsh.

She noted that Bidar's outgoing personality helped bring the group together, even inspiring one of their local guides to change his evening plans to join the students for ice cream and soccer.

Beyond the classroom, Bidar has been an active member of the Chagrin Falls Schools Educational Foundation Student Board throughout high school, helping coordinate fundraisers and community events. He also participates in The Tiger Connection, a student organization that helps incoming freshmen and new students feel welcome and connected to the school community.

For Bidar, leadership is about more than holding a position or title.

"I think that the most important leadership quality is trust," said Bidar. "We all have our different strengths and everybody is a leader themselves."

He believes effective leaders recognize the abilities of others, provide direction and trust their teammates to take responsibility for their roles. Whether helping organize an event or offering a ride to a younger teammate, Bidar looks for opportunities to support those around him.

Walsh sees those same leadership qualities in the classroom. "Classmates naturally gravitate toward him because he encourages others, celebrates their successes, and creates an environment where everyone feels valued," she said.

Community service is another important part of Bidar's life. Through the Educational Foundation, he has participated in activities such as Kids Day Out, which provides child care for community families while parents vote on Election Day. He also volunteers alongside his mother at St. Patrick's Hunger Center in Cleveland, helping prepare and serve meals to families in need.

Bidar credits his mother with teaching him and his brother the importance of helping others. Those experiences have strengthened his commitment to making service a lifelong priority, both through organized volunteer opportunities and everyday acts of kindness.

Athletics have also played a significant role in Bidar's high school experience. He has been a member of the boys tennis team for four years and participated in boys soccer during his freshman and senior years. He earned Chagrin Valley Conference honorable mention recognition in tennis last spring and will serve as a team captain during the upcoming season.

Bidar said participating in sports has helped him develop composure and perseverance, skills he applies both in competition and in the classroom.

In addition to academics, athletics and service, Bidar enjoys art and music. He makes an effort to take an art class each semester and appreciates the opportunities these interests provide for creativity and connecting with others.

Looking ahead, Bidar plans to attend college and pursue a field related to engineering, although he is keeping his options open. The Ohio State University is among the schools he is considering, where he would have the opportunity to spend a year on campus with his older brother.

While he has not yet selected a specific career path, Bidar hopes to continue exploring the scientific subjects that have interested him since childhood. His long-term goal is to pursue meaningful work that benefits others.

"I know that a goal of mine is to look back and know that my career made a beneficial impact on many people's lives," said Bidar.

Through his academic accomplishments, leadership, athletic participation and dedication to service, Bidar has demonstrated a commitment to personal growth and helping others, making him a deserving recipient of the October Chagrin Valley Rotary Student of the Month recognition.
