Chagrin Falls Schools Once Again Earns National Recognition for Excellence in Music Education

Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools has once again been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation, highlighting the district’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, accessible music education for all students. This is the district’s fifth time being recognized.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation celebrates school districts and schools across the country that demonstrate outstanding achievement in ensuring music remains a vital part of a well-rounded education. In 2026, more than 1,000 districts and schools nationwide received this distinction.

For Chagrin Falls Schools, the recognition reflects a longstanding belief that music education plays a critical role in student development.

“Music education is an essential part of the Chagrin Falls experience,” said Director of Orchestras Kendra Karriker. “It fosters creativity, discipline, collaboration and confidence in our students. This recognition affirms the incredible work of our teachers, the dedication of our students and the strong support from our community.”

From elementary through high school, students in Chagrin Falls have access to a wide range of music opportunities, including general music instruction, band, orchestra, choir and extracurricular ensembles. Participation in these programs continues to grow, supported by dedicated staff, strong community partnerships and a shared commitment to the arts.

“Our music programs give students a place to belong and a way to express themselves,” said Band Director Rob Sobnosky. “Whether they pursue music long-term or simply carry the experience with them, the skills they gain of teamwork, perseverance and creativity last a lifetime.”

The designation process for the BCME Award includes a comprehensive review of each district’s funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and overall community support for music education. To ensure accuracy and credibility, all submissions are verified by WolfBrown, a leading arts and education research firm.

Chagrin Falls Schools remains committed to providing meaningful, enriching experiences for students, with music education continuing to play a central role in that mission.
