On December 19, seven teams of 22 students from Chagrin Falls High School’s Financial Literacy courses competed in the 2025 Junior Achievement Greater Cleveland Stock Market Challenge at The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. This year's competition was the largest to date with 60 teams from 12 Northeast Ohio high schools including Chagrin Falls, Cleveland Heights, Laurel School, Mayfield, North Royalton, Rhodes School of Environmental Studies, Richmond Heights, Polaris Career Center, St. Edward, Thomas W. Harvey, University School, Westlake, West Geauga and Willoughby South.

Each team of three to four students is issued $1,000,000 of “mock stock” and must buy and sell shares in fictitious companies throughout a simulated 60-day trading period. Trading is fast, fun, and furious with a new day starting every 60 seconds! The goal of each team is to achieve the greatest rate of return on investment by the end of the simulated trading session.

Key objectives:

  • Understand foundational concepts of stocks.

  • Analyze today’s stock market.

  • Put market knowledge and skills into practice.

  • Understand the benefits and challenges of investing in the stock market as part of a broader, long-term investment strategy.

  • Examine the risks and rewards of trading.

Westley Quintin and Johnny Tenebria’s team (YeWest) finished 1st with a portfolio value of $1,726,284 and won $500 cash prize.
