Chagrin Falls High School junior Frankie LeBlanc represented the district on November 14 when she presented at the Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) State Conference, Ohio’s premier gathering for school librarians and media specialists.
LeBlanc was originally invited last school year by Library Media Specialist Angie Jameson, who recognized her strong research skills and compelling work in the AP Capstone program. This year, LeBlanc attended the conference to share her insights and experiences with librarians from across the state.
During her session, LeBlanc delivered an outstanding presentation on her AP Capstone research project focusing on American propaganda and the critical role of media literacy in today’s information landscape. She also offered thoughtful guidance to librarians interested in bringing the AP Capstone program to their own schools, drawing from her firsthand experience in the rigorous, research-based course sequence.
“It was such a proud moment for our school and the work that has been done in AP Capstone to make these special opportunities happen for our students,” said 7-12 Library Media Specialist Maria Sargiovanni. "I am excited to continue working with students in this area and to support them in achieving similar successes like Frankie."
Frankie’s participation highlights the strength of Chagrin Falls’ AP Capstone program and the district’s commitment to empowering students to think critically, conduct meaningful research, and share their voices beyond the classroom.
