What is a Mill?

Real property tax rates are expressed in mills. A mill equals one tenth of one percent of assessed value. Assessed value equals 35% of appraised value.
To calculate the value of a mill on one's property, you would multiply the County's appraised value by 35%, then by one tenth of one percent.

Home Value $500,000 x 35% x 0.001 = $175 One Mill = $175
