Welcome Mr. Curtis Howell

We are excited to announce that starting in the 2018-19 school year, Gurney Elementary School and Chagrin Falls Intermediate School will be sharing an assistant principal, Mr. Curtis Howell!


Mr. Howell earned his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Youngstown State University, his Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University and his Principal Licensure from Notre Dame College. 


From 2004-2010 Mr. Howell taught 2nd Grade at Gurney Elementary School where he also served as 2nd Grade Chairperson and frequently co-taught with intervention specialists. From 2010-2017 He taught 7th Grade math and science at Chagrin Falls Middle School where he also served as 7th Grade Chairperson. This year, from August to February, Mr. Howell served as our Chagrin Falls School District Campus Coordinator, Grades 4-12. In February he moved into the role of Interim Chagrin Falls Middle School Principal where he is currently closing out the school year.

Mr. Howell has been involved in extracurriculars in our district for all age levels as well. He has led Science Camp Invention at Gurney. He has also coached girls basketball at both Chagrin Falls Middle School and Chagrin Falls High School.

Mr. Howell lives in Solon with his wife and three young children. He is looking forward to returning to the Intermediate School and playing a critical role in bridging the primary school experience to the older elementary school experience for all of our students.

Summer Hours

 The Intermediate School Office will be open the following dates and times:
June 1st - 18th, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
August 1st - 15th, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

CFIS Attendance Guidelines Refresher

Online Absence Reporting

To report an absence, please click on the grade level of your child (see boxes below). All absences should be reported by 9:00 AM.
 Arrival - 8:15 am
Classes begin - 8:25 am
Dismissal - 3:25 pm 
Transportation changes must be made by 2:00 pm and called into the main office at 440-893-7690. No transportation changes will be accepted after 2:00 pm unless it is an emergency. Please contact the office for any transportation changes during the day.
