Update on Strategic Plan - October 2017
At an October 2017 meeting, the district presented to the board of education a general update on the progress of the Strategic Plan Survey. This summary updated included the first three years of the work in the strategic plan.  Over the past summer, the strategic plan went through a revision process to refine the current work of the plan to realign with the mission, vision, and belief statements and refocusing the plan as we reduced and refined a number of action steps.  Major work included removing the Flexible Learning pillar and placing those associated action steps in with the other three existing pillars.  This work was done because to keep the Flexible Learning aspect of the plan connected to each action step in the overall plan.  A complete review of the changes and updates can be found in the linked presentation

Recently we presented to the board of education the summary results from the second annual Strategic Plan Survey that was conducted in May 2017 for teachers and parents. Summary findings, data from the questions, and ways the district is using the data can be found in the presentation at the bottom of this page or linked directly here.
 
 
Recent Update on Strategic Plan Progress - June 2017
In June 2017 the district developed a general progress of the action steps of the Strategic Plan.  This summary includes the first three years of the work in the strategic plan and shows progress in the four major focus areas within the plan. Update on Plan Progress - June 2016
Recently we completed our second full academic year under the Strategic Plan.  Below are some reporting documents that were completed and shared with the board of education at a recent meeting. These documents represent our progress after two years of work on the five-year strategic plan:
 
 
 
Complete Summary of Progress  
The Chagrin Falls Exempted Village School District committed to a comprehensive strategic planning process in the spring of 2013. The process was developed to engage staff, parents, students, community members, business owners and governmental leaders. The collaborative process outlined in the timeline below resulted in a five-year plan which focuses the district’s resources, both personal and financial, on four key strategies that make progress towards the district mission and vision of personalized education. The four strategy areas include curriculum and instruction, flexible learning, shared leadership and engaged parents and community. The substance of these strategies is articulated and brought to life in action steps. The purpose of this report is to provide the Chagrin Falls Board of Education, District Strategic Planning Advisory Team, and community with a general update on progress.  The school district reports progress twice each year.  The below reports represent developments in each focus area as well and a completion percentage of each overall area.

 

Strategic Plan Development and Implementation Timeline:

Spring 2013: Chagrin Falls administration develop a core management team to establish process, determine parameters and develop a survey to solicit feedback from key stakeholders

June 2013: The Chagrin Falls Board of Education formally approves the strategic planning process

August 2013: The district conducts a comprehensive survey of all district stakeholders

September 2013: The district conducted focus groups soliciting feedback on strengths and weaknesses of the school district with students, staff, parents and community leaders.

October 2013: 50 key stakeholders including staff, administration, parents, students and community leaders conducted a two-day retreat creating belief statements, district mission, and vision and core strategies

November 2013 – March 2014: Action teams in the area of curriculum and instruction, parent and community engagement, flexible learning and shared leadership developed completed gap analysis and created action plans making progress towards the district mission and vision.

April – May 2014: District administrative team and management team evaluated implementation timeline and resource allocation.

June 2014: The Chagrin Falls Board of Education approved a comprehensive five-year plan.

August 2014 – June 2015: Implementation of year #1

September 2014: Selection of a product management software (5 PM) to monitor progress was adopted and the district formed the Strategic Plan Advisory Team to monitor progress and evaluate potential changes.

August 2015 - 2016: Implementation of year #2

May 2016 - Development of Strategic Plan Quality Survey - Implemented for annual review of feedback from parents and teachers. 

August 2016 - 2017: Implementation of year #3

April 2017 - Revision and Refocus of Strategic Plan to Refine Strategies and Action Steps
 
May 2017 - Development of Strategic Plan Quality Survey - (second year) - Implemented for annual review of feedback from parents and teachers.
