Choir Concert Date CHANGE

The 5th/6th Grade Choir and Select Choir concert has MOVED to Wednesday, December 20.
The concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the PAC.  Students need to be on the risers in the PAC promptly at 6:30 pm for warm-ups.

Music Course Descriptions taught by Mrs. Smith

General Music: Students will continue their musical growth in singing, music reading, playing classroom instruments, improvising and brief study of composers.  Students will learn to perform ensembles within the music classroom. Students are expected to bring their chromebook with them to every class.
 
Band (5th Grade Clarinet):  Students will begin the study of performing music on their selected instrument. Students will continue their musical growth in reading music, using correct playing technique for their instrument, performing with the correct tone, demonstrating proper body positions, utilizing the correct embouchure and performing within an ensemble. Students will have a practice chart that will be sent home with them each week. STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PRACTICE THEIR INSTRUMENTS AT HOME EACH WEEK. STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO CHECK THEIR GOOGLE CALENDAR AND GOOGLE CLASSROOM FOR ASSIGNMENTS.  Students are expected to bring their chromebook with them to every class.
 
5th/6th Grade Choir Elective:  Students will begin their musical growth in choral music by reading/identifying pitches and rhythms, developing proper breathing technique, developing proper technique for tone quality and vowel formation, demonstrating proper body positions for singing, performing pieces in 2 part harmony and blending their voice with others within a vocal ensemble. Students will perform 2 concerts, one in December and one in May. Students are expected to bring their Chromebook to every class.  5th grade choir students will meet for choir on Monday and Wednesday during homeroom.  6th grade choir students will meet for choir on Tuesday and Thursday during homeroom.
