Biography - Kathryn Garvey
Kathryn Garvey was re-elected in 2019 to a second four-year term on the Board of Education at Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools. Kathryn has served as both President and Vice President of the Board over the past four year. Currently, Kathryn is the Chair of both the Board Capital Planning and the Board Finance & Budget Committees and a liaison to the Business Advisory Council. Additionally, she serves as Board Representative to the Superintendent's Business Advisory Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. Kathryn is Board Liaison to the Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce and Safe Routes Chagrin.
Kathryn is the founder and board president of Safe Routes Chagrin, a community-school organization that encourages and supports students' healthy, active lifestyles and was recognized as the top program in the nation in 2012.
Kathryn received an M.B.A. in Finance from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and a B.A. degree from the University of Virginia. She previously worked as Director of Business Development and then as Director of Strategic Planning and Investor Relations at Athersys, Inc. and as a Business Manager and contract negotiator for the state of Ohio for Astra-Merck Pharmaceuticals.
Kathryn and her husband Mike have lived in Chagrin Falls since 1992 and have raised their three children here: Megan (CFHS Class of 2016), Colin (CFHS Class of 2018), and Fiona (CFHS Class of 2021).
