Biography - Phil Rankin
Phil Rankin was elected to the Chagrin Falls School Board in November 2017. He is the Board
representative to the Board Audit Committee, the Cost Containment Committee and Liaison to
He served on the Facilities Committee in 2016 and 2017 and served as Assistant Treasurer for
the 2017 school levy campaign. Phil has volunteered since 2007 with the Chagrin Valley
Jaycees, Dads Club, and coached youth teams for the Chagrin Athletic Association. He has
been active since 2015 with Cub Scouts Pack 177 and currently serves as their Cubmaster.
Phil received an M.B.A. in Economics, Finance, and Operations Management from the
University of Chicago and a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Iowa. He had several
positions with Amsted Industries completing as the Assistant Corporate Controller, was a VP of
Finance for a division of Federal Signal, and a Division CFO for Precision Castparts before
leaving the corporate world to build three businesses of his own, Special Metal Stamping, Even
Mix™, and American Assembly Tools which he operates today.
Phil and his wife, Kristen, have lived in the Village of Chagrin Falls since 2006. They have three
children: Elizabeth, Class of 2023; Julianne, Class of 2023; and John, Class of 2026.
