Our Facilities Committee has been serving as a support and guidance group for many years on topics such as the Facilities Master Planning process, facilities planning, construction planning, capital improvement investment planning, and long term facilities guidance. The school district is grateful to have this local group of industry professionals working with our leadership. The committee has changed members over the years and the current active members are listed here in this document.
PTO Facilities Presentation – February 15, 2017
At the February15, 2017 PTO Meeting over 100 community members attending a presentation and many went on tours of the Intermediate School. Superintendent, Robert Hunt presented information about needed facilities updates and provided financial information about the upcoming May 2nd levy. Facilities Committee CORE Team - May 18, 2016
The district held the first meeting on May 18, 2016 with the Facilities CORE Team. This is Facilities Committee CORE team is a group of community members that are experts and leading industry professionals in the fields of construction, facilities planning, and operational budgeting. We are grateful to have their expertise and leadership to help us in this process. This group will be working over the next year to help ensure that the district achieves the best possible design to support the educational programming at the lowest possible cost for the Chagrin Falls Intermediate School design. Facilities Presentation to the Board of Education - February 8, 2016
At the February 8, 2015 Board of Education Meeting a presentation was given to revisit the construction and renovation of the Chagrin Falls Intermedaite School. The board also examined a proposal for swing space design with a plan and prospective cost of relocating and housing Intermedaite School students and staff at the 7-12 campus during a potential construction. Facilities Presentation to the Board of Education - October 19, 2015
At the October 19, 2015 Board of Education Meeting a presentation was given to examine a proposal for a redesigned for Chagrin Falls High School main entrance with improved safety and security as well as new construction for the main office, renovating the student commons and media center. The is a reduced design from the original proposed design for this space that was associated with the 2013 Facilities Master Plan. Facilities Presentation to the Board of Education - October 6, 2015
At the October 5, 2015 Board of Education Meeting a presentation was given to examine considerations for facilities projects that would need to be addressed in all buildings over the next 5 years. Asummptions would be a five year life cycle of for the Gurney / Intermedaite School and a twenty plus year life cycle for Middle / High Schools. The presentation is link here.

At the March 2, 2015 Board of Education Work Session a presentation was given to summarize the cost analysis for maintaining the current school buildings. The presentation is linked here. Education - January 20, 2015
At the January 20, 2015 meeting, the Chagrin Falls Board of Education was provided a presentation and update from Stantec Architecture. The link for this presentation can be found here. The Board of Education was also provided a financial summary that can be located at the following link (here). After the presentation, Superintendent Robert Hunt provided recommendations that aligned with feedback provided by the district Facilities Committee. Due to the significant costs related to all projects researched during the predesign phase, it was recommended that the district focus on projects relevant to the most pressing need facing the district, the elementary facilities. In addition, the renovation of Chagrin Falls Intermediate School was recommended to be removed from consideration due to the significant cost variance (approximately $13 million) between a renovation and new construction. The following three considerations were given as recommendations to the Board of Education for continued consideration and dialogue:
#1 Build a New PK-6 facility at the Gurney Site
#2 Build New 4-6 facility at the Gurney Site designed for future PK-3 expansion
#3 Build no new facilities at this time and increase the Permanent Improvement budget for current building operations and major projects/repairs.
The board will continue to evaluate financial implications of all three alternatives in the upcoming months.

At the January 5, 2015 Board Meeting Stantec architectural firm updated the Board of Education on the Facilities Pre-Design work. The update included a presentation that is posted here on the website. At the next Board Meeting on January 20, 2015 Stantec will present the two independent cost projections associated with the current pre-design work.

Facility School Tours for Elementary Schools:
As part of the recent district facilities planning conversation,
the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools would like to make facility tours
available for Gurney Elementary and/or Intermediate School for community
members or parents.
Tours of Gurney Elementary and Chagrin Falls Intermediate School will be held on December 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. and February 5, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. The tours will begin at Gurney Elementary and will last approximately one hour.
Community members and parents interested in touring the schools must register in advance, by contacting Carol Willert at 440-247-5449.
Facility Planning Process - Community Q&A Session
All residents are encouraged to attend to share their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions for the future of our district’s facilities. The district held a moderated Q&A session regarding Facility Planning for the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools Sponsored by the PTO on Monday, November 17, 2014. Facility Planning Process Upcoming Meetings:
The meeting was part of the predesign phase with facilities. The architectural firm Stantec will provide the Board of Education accurate numbers developed from specifications by the district with input into from the community. A second community meeting will be held on December 3, 2014 at 7PM in the Performing Arts Center and then an update on progress to the Board of Education at the January 5, 2015 work session. A final presentation to the Board of Education with cost estimates and preliminary designs will be presented to the Board of Education at the January 20, 2015 regular meeting.

The district recently held a community meeting on October 21, 2014 presenting the community with a general facilities update and options of designs. Facility Master Plan
The Chagrin Falls Board of Education has entered into an agreement with Stantec Architectural firm to complete a facility master plan. Stantec presented a comprehensive Facilities Study to the Facilities Master Plan Team in November 2013. A copy of the entire study is available for a PDF download at this link.
