Water - Boil Alert Lifted  - March 9, 2017

To the Parents of Chagrin Falls Intermediate, Middle, and High School students,

As you know, we have been on bottled water at the Intermediate, Middle, and High School the past two days due to a boil advisory in the Village of Chagrin Falls.  The Village lifted the boil advisory this afternoon.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.  We thank the Village of Chagrin Falls for their efforts.

The Village Utilities Dept. experienced a major water main break Tuesday morning.

Issued: March 9, 2017

Please be advised that the bacteria sample results have come back from the lab as safe.

The boil advisory from yesterday has been lifted as of 2:45p.m. this afternoon

If you have any questions please contact the Utilities Dept. at 247-5050

Water Issue Update - March 8, 2017

As you know, there was a water main break in the Village of Chagrin Falls.  Water was restored, but due to some pressure loss the Village Utilities Department issued a boil advisory for the entire Village.  The advisory has been extended through Thursday, March 9th.

Schools will be open tomorrow with the drinking fountains at the Intermediate, Middle, and High Schools covered. Just as we did today, we will provide bottled water at the schools, but suggest parents send a bottle of water to school with students to help alleviate the overall need.  Our kitchen staff will boil all water used for the preparation of food.

Again, we have full water pressure at the buildings so there is no issue with water for hand washing or toilet flushing.

If we receive communication on the boil advisory from the Village, we will provide an update to parents and staff on our website.  Our school district appreciates the efforts and communications from the Village of Chagrin Falls during this event.

The Village Utilities Dept. experienced a major water main break Tuesday morning.

Issued: March 8, 2017

While we don’t believe there is any contamination to the system, due to the loss of pressure, we issued a boil advisory for the entire Village.  After communicating with Ohio EPA they have required us to collect additional samples. This will extend the boil advisory through Thursday, March 9, 2017. It is recommended any water used for human consumption should be boiled vigorously for minute.

If you have any questions please contact the Utilities Dept. at 247-5050.

Water Issue Update - March 7, 2017

Along with a sizable number of households in the Village we did not have water pressure this morning at the Intermediate, Middle and High School. This was due to a major water main break. The Village repaired the line, but lost some pressure for a period of time. The Village Utilities Department does not believe that there was any contamination, but at 8:22 a.m. they issued a boil advisory for the entire Village. The advisory recommended any water used for human consumption be boiled for one minute. To address this advisory we are covering the drinking fountains in the Intermediate, Middle, and High Schools and providing bottled water for the students and staff. We are directing our kitchen staff to boil all water used for the preparation of food. We will provide bottled water at the schools, but suggest parents send a bottle of water to school with students to help alleviate the overall need. We have full water pressure at the buildings so there is no issue with water for hand washing or toilet flushing. We anticipate receiving communication on the boil advisory from the Village tomorrow afternoon and we will subsequently provide an update to parents and staff by the end of the day tomorrow.

As part of Consumer Notice the district has provided the results of the recent samples indicating the results were within satisfactory range. Those results are posted at this link.
