Sydney Jahnigen, born and raised in Lexington, KY, is the director of vocal music at Northwood Middle School. She is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University’s Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor’s in Music Education with a Conducting emphasis. Sydney loves every aspect of theatre and has performed and choreographed a variety of shows. Some of her favorite involvements were performing Yum Yum (The Mikado), Ms. Gardner (Carrie), Fantine (Les Mis), and Dragon (Shrek) while choreographing Cinderella, Ruddigore, and Peter Pan. In 2015, she was awarded the Mel and Jena Hakola Prize for Academic and Vocal Excellence. Some of Sydney’s most memorable professional experiences were being the manager of the BW Men’s Chorus for several years, one of the professional teaching artist at the Lexington Children’s Theatre Summer Theatre School, and the administrative assistant and head counselor for the BW Community Music School summer music programs. She is an active member of the Ohio Music Education Association, American Choral Director’s Association, and Mu Phi Epsilon Music Society. In her free time, Sydney loves fawning over her nephew, cooking up a new recipe, or finding new constellations in the night sky. Sydney takes on Chagrin Summer Theatre with much enthusiasm and can’t wait for you to join us as we take you on a fabulous summer adventure!
